Properties in Mumbai

By Vivek Kumawat

Mumbai property is available in every nook and corner of this city. Once you have a budget you can buy residential properties and commercial properties anywhere in this city. The price depends on the location of your property and the size you are looking to buy. Also it is good to learn a little more about the city and do research before you zero in on a property.

Today you can buy residential and commercial properties in areas like Parel, Chembur, Worli, Malad, Bandra Kurla Complex and Andheri. These were all known commercial areas but now are slowly developing in to residential areas as well. Many people choose to live close by to work to avoid the Mumbai traffic, and that could be one of the major reasons why so many residential buildings are springing up.

Many buyers get a little flummoxed when they have to start the process of buying a property. They need to find out about loans, their monthly EMI, the stamp duty and registration fee details and Tax benefits. NRIs who are looking to buy property in Mumbai have a lot of queries. Any NRI looking to buy property should get their entire question list answered before starting to look for Mumbai properties.

The most important thing you need to do before looking at properties is to find out if you are eligible for a home loan or commercial property loan. Always look to buy a clear property so that it becomes easy for the bank to loan you money. Also know that most banks will offer up to 85% of the agreement plus stamp duty charges. Giving you a loan completely depends on the bank; no builder can guarantee you a loan.

Most of the builder websites have an EMI calculator so it is a good idea to check how much would your monthly EMI come up too. Stamp duty and registration fees also vary on the property amount and other details so you should make all these extra calculations into account when you are looking to buy your home.

Many NRIs or Non Resident Indians are looking to buy property in Mumbai. Read up on the different categories under the NRI section and get a professional to look the different categories there are.

These are a few important questions you should ask before you buy property in Mumbai. I am a NRI; Can I buy a property in India? How can I pay for the property purchased? What are the various facilities available to NRIs/OCBs? What is an OCB? Can a NRI get home loan in India? Who is considered a Person of Indian Origin (PIO) for investment in immovable properties? Can I lease my property in India even though I stay abroad? Can I sell my property? These are serious questions that you should not take for granted and should clear before you look to buy property in Mumbai.

Finding your dream Property from the vast choice of Mumbai Properties may take time, but look for a builder who believes in Excellence, Inclusion, Equality and Integrity. Take your time finding your property as this will be a serious commitment, and you don't want to regret your decision later on.
